Graduate Work Examples

My graduate degree is from the University of Michigan in Urban Planning.  I chose the concentration of Environmental Planning to complement my Landscape Architecture degree and my work experience.  I’ve included two major group projects completed in my classes.

Examples:

Triage Toll

The first project was completed in a Brownfield Redevelopment course.  The group included a Master of Environmental Engineering student, a duel Law and Master of Natural Resources student, a duel Master of Business and Natural Resources student, a Business Masters student, and myself.  For the second half of the course we were charged with creating a new tool for developing brownfield sites.  Our tool was a system to create a hierarchical ranking of sites for a company with a large portfolio of brownfield sites such as what General Motors has after bankruptcy.

7 Mile Road Site

The Second project was completed in a Fundamentals of Planning course.  the group was 6 members, all from the Master of Urban Planning program.  The course is a required course for all Master of Urban Planning students and the groups have real clients from the area. Our client was the Charter Township of Northville, Michigan who had recently acquired a large site, formerly a Psychological Hospital, now a brownfield, which they plan to turn into a park.  Our project was to lead a community input section and come up with a preliminary plan for the site.
