Lead-Safe Gardening Practices

This was the second project I worked on at CLEARCorps/Detroit.  It was a pamphlet on lead-safe gardening practices.  Detroit is making a major push for urban gardening as a way to revive the community and get fresh fruits and vegetables to people living there.  Teamed with professors from Wayne State University, and representatives from the Detroit Health Department and The Greening of Detroit (a non-profit working to create gardening options in Detroit),  I worked to organize and gain the best information possible and combine it all into a usable pamphlet to give out to community members.

The final product (click link below) was a well-organized, easily understood product that organizations throughout the Detroit community hope to hand out to residents interested in developing an urban garden.  This project incorporated my graphic skills with research and working to create partnerships and spearhead group meetings. A difficult and unforeseen obstacle I faced was wording the pamphlet so that an individual with a 5th grade reading level would be able to read and understand the information presented.
