Michigan Bell Building Renovation

The Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) supplies housing support for the homeless in Detroit, Michigan.  The NSO gained the rights to the old Michigan Bell building in Highland Park, Michigan and plans to develop it into their office space and housing apartments for the homeless.  The redevelopment is planned to be LEED certified and Deak Planning + Design was brought on board with Kenneth Weikal Landscape Architecture to develop green roofs, plaza space, and the site design.  Originally, the SketchUp model was created to study shadow patterns for green roof feasibility.  Subsequently, the model was refined and became a working document for site design and development of the roof area which was planned to be used as space for fund-raising galas. (Please click link at bottom for project sheet)
